The movie is entitled Lovelace, and follows the life story of Linda Boreman, better known as Linda Lovelace, and her rise into pornography stardom. The biopic really is designed to show Linda, not as a sexually promiscuous vixon, but a sheltered girl who wanted to help her husband get out of financial troubles. We learn quickly that her career in porn was not a choice at all, but is a result of Linda being forced into prostitution by her abusive husband, Chuck Traynor. Linda became the first famous porn stars in the industry from her appearance in the 1974 film, Deep Throat. Now, lets start with the positives first. Amanda Seyfried stars as Linda Lovelace, and I actually liked her casting a lot in this. She really gave the character a nice balance. And you empathized with her situation, believing that it was very possible for a good girl to turn bad very quickly, considering her circumstances. I also thought Peter Sarsgaard was also exceptional as Linda's husband and pimp, Chuck Traynor. His character is one that is charming and seemingly normal, but behind the scenes is a complete monster, and he hit the nail right on the head with this. So, overall the casting was strong, with the exception of James Franco who played, in my opinion, a very bad version of Hugh Hefner. But his cameo is short lived, so it wasn't enough to really bug me. But for me, the film was generally just "okay." I felt like the story telling was a little off. You get halfway though the movie, and find out that she was actually being abused and forced into this lifestyle, which most of the audience already kinda assumed, and then directors...
