New Delhi continues to maintain a lead with the highest crime rate among other Indian cities. According to annual data of Delhi Police, the capital city has witnessed a 43 percent increase in overall crime in 2013 compared with 2012. Nearly seventy four thousand cases were registered in 2013, up from over fifty one thousand last year. Offences against women like molestation have grown over four times and rape rose by 129 percent.Most people agree Delhi has transformed into a world class city but they say the country needs tough laws to overcome the rising crime rate. The country's slow judicial system is meanwhile discouraging people from making complaints.India is notorious for crimes against women, over the past few years crime in Delhi continues to be on the rise on an alarming level, studies and surveys reveal every 20 minutes a rape is reported in country while many cases go unreported. People accuse police patrolling the streets of being insensitive towards crimes and ignoring related complaints.Although the government had adopted tougher laws following December 2012 gang rape, experts say the country needs to improve its slow judicial system to achieve a lasting solution.
