Australia faced France in the Hero Hockey Junior World Cup, in a Pool B fixture; both teams were already through to the quarter-finals after winning their initial two matches. It was Australia who prevailed victorious with a 2-0 win in their opening game, to top pool B.France came close to opening the score, after a misunderstanding between the Australians, a great give and go between Simon Martin Brisac and Theophile Ponthieu, Brisac could only drag his shot wide.Down the other end, Australia have a chances of their own, a diving pass from Flynn Ogilvie, found Dylan Wotherspoon unmarked at the back post, but could not beat Edgar Reynaud between the sticks. The Kookaburras took the lead minutes into the 2nd half, a fantastic solo run breaking in from the left, and found the gap between Edgar Reynaud’s legs to make it one nil to Australia.Cameron Joyce doubled the lead converting from a penalty corner, a low drive straight though the middle. Australia came close to getting a third; Will Gilmour’s pass to Flynn Ogilvie, but closed down immediately by Corentin Saunier a great save by the replacement keeper.
