EDITORS PLEASE NOTE: THIS EDIT CONTAINS MATERIAL THAT WAS ORIGINALLY 4:3 ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION). STORY: Some 150 children battled with Bolivian police in La Paz on Wednesday (December 18) after they tried to occupy the square outside the national assembly where lawmakers were re-writing the new code for children which would set the limit for labour at age 14. The group of protesting children took to the streets earlier to demonstrate against the new code, calling it discriminatory. Police used tear gas and force to remove the children from the square. The group is asking lawmakers to rewrite one paragraph in the new code that would allow for children under the age of 14 to work as long as it is voluntary and not forced labour. Their request was denied.
