In sub-Saharan Africa, the fight against poverty is closely tied to women's rights and their financial independence. Roughly 75 percent of unpaid work is carried out by women. If they were paid for it, they would be able to support their families.A development aid project in Malawi produces efficient ovens for domestic use. They enable women to earn a living; they reduce energy consumption and are less environmentally damaging than their previous ovens.
