Every month the government will make a list of the country’s 10 worst offenders and publish it.As, according to a study by Asian Development Bank, China has 7 of the 10 most polluted cities on the globe, composing the list won’t likely serve as much of a challenge. In fact, to fill in the number 1 spot, officials probably won’t have to look much further than the capital city of Beijing. One expert has compared the air quality level in the city to that of lower Manhattan in the days following the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Other areas expected to be called out are the city of Tianjin and the provinces of Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Shandong, and Shanxi. They along with the capital have already signed an agreement with the government to expedite clean up plans. Among the measures several plan to take in turning their air quality problems around is to decrease the amount of coal being used for power.
