This aarti is sung in praise of Goddess Parvati who is the divine consort of Lord Shiva, the Trinity God. Goddess Parvati is also considered as a representation of Shakti or Durga. Maa Parvati is represented in Hindu mythology as being a mediator in the conflicts of heaven. Parvati is the daughter of the Great Himalayan Mountains and the divine sister of Goddess Ganga. Aarti is a Hindu religious ritual of worship, a part of puja, in which light from wicks soaked in ghee (purified butter) or camphor is offered to one or more deities. Aartis also refer to the songs sung in praise of the deity, when lamps are being offered.
