As the first female president of the United Methodist Church's Judicial Council, Susan T. Henry-Crowe has been dean of the Chapel of Religious Life at Emory since 1991. In 2000 Crowe was named Chaplain of the Year by the United Methodist Foundation for Christian Higher Education. During her time at Emory, she established the Journeys of Reconciliation program, where Emory students and faculty travel to troubled regions of the world to learn more about the roots of conflict and the possibilities of peace. Crowe discusses the role of theologian Thomas JJ Altizer, Professor of Religion at Emory from 1956-1968. Altizer's "Is God Dead?" TIME Magazine cover sparked national attention while he was teaching at Emory.
