I occasionally launch packages to space by high altitude balloon. After the balloon pops, the packages fall 110k+ feet back to Earth via parachute. This test was to see how well a dual parachute system would perform. The weight was about 4 lbs, and it was hand-thrown in front of the parachute. We were originally concerned that the two parachutes might get tangled up or smashed against each other. This proves they naturally spread out on their own! Unfortunately that was the tallest building I had roof access to, or I would have had it dropped further. At the end of the video, it was more of a blooper reel. But it shows what happens when the weight is launched upside down, ie it still works. note: Another person on our HacDC team hand-made those two parachutes.
