American playwrights often look at major historical events through the lens of the family. Two recent plays now on Seattle stages explore the aftermath of the national trauma that Americans experienced on September 11, 2001. "Sunlight" by Sharr White and "Dying City" by Christopher Shinn are examinations of how issues related to 9–11 add fuel to family dysfunction. Seattle Times Theater Critic Misha Berson spoke about the plays with KUOW's Dave Beck.
