the player of ESS Setif, Khaled Lamouchia was seriously injured Thursday afternoon by Egyptian fans in Cairo. Hit in the head, Lamouchia received first aid at the hotel where stays the Algerian delegation.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mourad Medelci, strongly condemned the attack against the Algerian national football team shortly after his arrival in Cairo and asked his Egyptian counterpart to take "necessary measures" to ensure the safety of the players and the staff.
In a statement, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, who reported a "warm welcome" at the airport, described as "serious" the aggression perpetrated by certain individuals against a bus carrying the delegation from the airport to the hotel, causing injuries to players.
"I asked my colleague, Mr. Ahmed Abu el-Gheit, to take all the necessary measures to ensure a normal stay at the entire delegation," Medelci said, adding that the incident is produced despite the measures taken to ensure security.
Experts from FIFA, he said, are currently at the hotel which hosted the delegation to see the damage revealed during the incident.
After the serious incidents that occurred in Cairo this Thursday, when Egyptan fans attacked the Algerian players, FIFA will certainly take necessary measures against the host country by deciding the official qualification of the Algerian team.

Some players have been injured by stones launched by the Egyptian fans. Lemouchia, the player of ESS Setif has been seriously injured in his head. Egypt may face serious sanctions, especially with the new severe laws of the FIFA. If so, Algeria may be officially declared qualified for the World Cup which will take place in south Africa in 2010
