While these statistics are a reminder of the severity of the disease, advances in lung cancer treatments are helping change the outcome for some patients. These patients are inspiring others by defying the odds every day as they live with advanced lung cancer. In recognition of Lung Cancer Awareness Month, speak to an internationally renowned oncologist and two active lung cancer survivors. One survivor has lived with stage IV lung cancer for seven years, a feat that is nearly unprecedented, and continues to care for her large family. The other survivor was placed on disability because of his diagnosis, but considered himself “too young to retire” and relished being able to return to work full-time six months later.
