Creative Bridal Shower Ideas. Fairy Tale Booklet. When my friend Lauren was getting married, I decided to hold a bridal shower for her. She had dismissed many traditions from her wedding plans, so I really wanted her shower to be untraditional and unique. My first idea to

have each guest create a pottery piece for her had to be abandoned when the pottery teacher proved unreliable and wouldn?t return my calls in order to finalize the plans. But, I came up with a better plan. I created a fairy tale story about Lauren. It started with the required ?Once upon a time? and ended with her marrying Jeff, the man of her dreams. I filled about 20 pages of the storybook and printed it on my laser printer on watercolour paper I bought from Michaels. At the shower, I read the story aloud and then shuffled the pages and had each guest pick a page. I told them that they now had to paint an illustration for that page. Each guest was supplied with pieces of art paper, an inexpensive box of watercolour paints, a pencil, eraser, brushes and water?.oh, and a glass of wine, of course. Guests found a comfortable spot to work, on the patio, at the kitchen table, at the dining room table, wherever! We had so much fun checking out each other?s pages and we were all amazed at how much talent emerged. We were incredibly lucky that Lauren?s mother was an art teacher. She drew and painted a beautiful fairy castle for the front page. The pages were hole-punched and the book was bound with an organza ribbon. Each page was signed by its artist, creating a lovely keepsake for Lauren. It was a really fun day!
