You should have practiced the latter without neglecting the former.” ] New Testament Christians were giving far more than a tithe. Luke 7:36-47 Our giving to the Lord is a reflection of our heart. 2. Tithing is not a “get” principle— it’s a “give” principle. Malachi 3:10 is not mechanistic or manipulative. It says you cannot out-give God. 3. Tithing is not a “limiting” principle— It’s a “growth” principle. Jesus never taught that Christians are to stay at ten percent. Acts 11:29 (RSV) [ “The disciples determined, each according to his ability, to send relief to the brethren who lived in Judea.” ] Wherever you are in Christian giving, you can grow.
