NYC Marathon Has Grown From Humble Beginnings

The New York City Marathon has seen tremendous growth from the first race in 1970, when only 127 runners took part. Approximately forty-thousand runners are expected to race the 40th edition of the marathon Sunday. (Oct. 29)
