You have the health care you deserve. When was the last time you saw really angry American people take the streets to defend freedom, liberty and their rights? 1776? You get my point. The US is today inhabited by idiots who spend their time drooling in front of sports. We all hear that we have 200 millions legal guns in this country. Do you think obese idiots could use them to take back the Senate? Nope. all we'll do with them is kill deer and each other.I've been living in the US for 20 years now. I'm not sorry for the fate of the US populace. Been there, done that. I've over it. You get what you deserve.

I am for Health Care Reform but I am affraid we are not going to get what we want in this bill.I am for single payer. It is time to get rid of Health Insurance Companys all together. As long as they are allowed to be included we will never get healthcare reform. They buy our politicions and get what they want. And neither care about" we the people".Only their profits and elections.

I dropped my medical coverage in 2007 because Blue Cross performed badly and increased my premium to $1,200.00.I don’t pay a third party to negotiate for what I pay for water – that decision is made by the community called a district. I don’t pay a third party to negotiate for clean air – that decision is made by the community called a district. I buy my food locally and don’t use a third party to shop for me. Why is health care different? I need water, air and food for my immediate physical well being. Those who know that I deliberately dropped my medical insurance were horrified. And I am sure they believe it was and is a bad idea. However, they are still complaining about their premiums, poor care, etc.I remain hopeful that one day, preferably on the same day, everyone will terminate their health coverage. It is obvious that politicians do not have the where-with-all to get this done in a way that is useful BUT YOU CAN! Money, in this case is a great motivator. jeanne.noel@yahoo.com

I 100% agree with this piece. The legislation approved by the House will not be a safety net for anyone - It just mandates that we all become part of a broken system. People who already can't affort health care will be "mandated" to purchse it??? Someone's missing a screw.Congress -- You failed miserably. President Obama, please send this back to Congress with more stringent requirements for a single-payer health care system. This bill fixes nothing.

Why the landslide for Richard Nixon in 1972? Why the jubilation over Obama's election? It's all business as usual, and effectively we're getting four more years of 'W' but with tear-jerking Oprah connotations. More war, more abuse from the health care industry, more pollution and ponzi schemes on Wall Street and overall just more of the same, more business as usual. I agree that this is a nation of idiots drooling over sports. The penalty that is paid by good people disinterested in politics will now be paid.

This country needs an "American Plan" that gives equal and affordable health care access to all Americans = a Universal Single Payer System that puts the patient before profit. It is a Patriotic idea, because patriotic Americans care about each other. "We need to expand the prevailing definition of patriotism beyond that narrow nationalism that has caused so much death and suffering. If national boundaries should not be obstacles for trade--some call it globalization--should they also not be obstacles to compassion and generosity?" (Howard Zinn) Let's start the ball rolling at home with a new vision for National Health Care that allows EVERYBODY access.
