Brand New Concert review of San Jose Event Center at SJSU 10/16/09.
I have been a fan of Brand New for years, and Oct. 16th was my third time seeing them live. I listened to their new album, Daisy, completely through a few days before hand, and I hate to say that it is my least favorite album to date. Nonetheless, I was more than pumped to see one of my favorite bands perform, even though I expected the majority of the set to be new songs. However, to my surprise, I stood pleasantly corrected! They only played five new songs in a seventeen song set. Jesse Lacey was screaming his lungs out to the new (almost scream-o sounding) Daisy songs as beautifully as anyone ever could. The crowd, and myself, went crazy whenever they began playing any Deja Entendu songs– especially during “Sic Transit Gloria”, my favorite song of theirs. Overall, Brand New has played a better set, but they will never cease to entertain me and they will always be one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen.
