Messing with Mao
In 1989 Lu Decheng, a small town bus mechanic, joined in with the student protests in China's Tienanmen Square. Weeks into the demonstration he and two friends launched egg shells full of paint at the portrait of Chairman Mao that presides over Tienanmen. From then on they were imprisoned and harassed by Chinese authorities for their crime. After serving 11 of a 16 year sentence Lu Decheng escaped to Canada. Denise Chong documents his story in her latest book Egg On Mao.
