UNWRAPPING THE REVELATION What Will Heaven Be Like? Revelation 22:1-6 The Bible gives many pictures of heaven. However, it only speaks of heaven in broad outlines. Two reasons-- (1) Our minds now cannot comprehend the infinite. 1 Corinthians 2:9 [ “Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him.” ] (2) God still has a purpose for us here. 2 Corinthians 5:19-20 [ God “has committed to us the message of reconciliation… as though God were making his appeal through us… be reconciled to God.” ] Revelation 22:1-6 gives six features of heaven. 1. Heaven’s Life—v 1-2 Heaven is a place of abundant and endless life. 2. Heaven’s Liberty—v 3a Our misshaped values will be straightened out-- Revelation 21:21. 3. Heaven’s Labor—3b Heaven is a place of active service. 4. Heaven’s Likeness—v 4 We’ll be like Christ. 1 John 3:2 [ “Beloved, we are God’s children now. It does not yet appear what we shall be, but we know when He appears, we shall be like Him.” ] 5. Heaven’s Light—v 5 Heaven will be a place of full enlightenment. 1 Corinthians 13:12 [ “Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am known.” ] 6. V 6—Heaven’s Lord Heaven is being with Jesus. John 14:4-6 Jesus is the one way to heaven. Receive Jesus today, and you will receive heaven.
