Simple Communications and Storage
by Andrew McCaskey
But Not a Solution
Yahoo! Mail users can now attach large files up to 100MB in size to any message they send using drop.io ’s “Attach Large Files” application. Just click on the “Attach Large Files” heading in your Applications listing in Yahoo! Mail.
What’s great about is that all your files are stored on the Yahoo cloud, so your recipients can see what files you’ve sent and either download them individually or all at once. You can send as many files as you want per up to 100MB per message.
From a development perspective, the Attach Large Files app is interesting because it was built entirely on top of the drop.io open API. The company wanted to show off the potential of the API . Storage and communications merged into one app – with a familiar interface as well – just made for sending family video.
But – for family photos and videos, it would be only one part of the greater digital storage strategy – a second remote storage option that you control – Pogoplug or physical DVD – are needed..
