En América Latina y el Caribe, 52 millones de sus ciudadanos sufren de este mal, siendo HaitÃ, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Perú, Bolivia y Paraguay, los paÃses más afectados. El problema no sólo radica en la desigualdad económica, sino también en factores tales como: el cambio climático, que provoca sequÃas más largas, la propiedad de la tierra y el acceso a un sistema de salud, entre otros. Es por ello que una parte de la solución, según expertos, debe ser trabajar de manera multisectorial y no sólo limitarse a dar dinero. Por otro lado, corresponde convertir el derecho a la alimentación, a una Ley.
