Can't see the video? Watch this video now in a browser or download this video now. I can't do a regular WebbAlert today, so instead, I thought I'd show you some of the great things I've found as I've traveled around the web. Today we're looking at wonderful transportation. BMW was the hit of the Society of Automobile Engineers Show for introducing a prototype that barely emits any carbon monoxide at all. In fact, when you drive it, you're cleaning the air! XP Vehicles is working on a balloon car that runs on batteries or fuel cells. Don't worry about it popping - it's made of the same material NASA uses for space landers. Are you ready for the MicroFueler personal ethanol production system? In goes sugar and yeast, and out comes fuel grade ethanol. Forget cars! Check out these concept bikes! Learn about catenaries! Don't forget! I'm looking for your opinion on what drives you up the wall about technology. What's your pet peeve? I've got a round up of the Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo press conferences for you - some of the highlights include: Microsoft pairing up with Netflix to bring movies to XBL and taking the Final Fantasy franchise away from Sony. Nintendo introduced more games for the Wii and DS, and you get to use the Wiimote as a lightsaber! Sony's got movies on the PS3 too - and there's a cheaper 80 gig model now as well. The trailer for Resitance 2 is pretty great too. Radiohead has turned to Google to promote the video for their new song "House of Cards." No lights or cameras went into this one. Its all 3-D images. It's open source so remix it if you want. ...or maybe you'd rather curl up with an e-book. Amazon has 2 new kindles on the way. Don't forget! Last year it took them over 70 days to sell that many. Over 10 million applications were downloaded from the app store too. But some developers think that some of their creations are crashing because 2.0 firmware isn't a solid foundation. Other developers are angry because companies are cheating by putting a space or an asterisk in front of their app names to push them to the top of iTunes. iPhones are everywhere but what about a G-Phone. Not so fast - there's no such thing - just the Android platform. But Google's got some unhappy developers too... they want to know where their SDK update is. Meanwhile, maybe that swastika was a hack on the Google trends page - or maybe it was a traditional Buddhist and Hindu symbol - but the latest message on there seems loud and clear. Ebay may have been defeated in France, but here they are victorious. They won their case against Tiffany & Co. The court says it's not up to Ebay to police counterfeit goods. How about a robot that can set the table and then clean it up? Doesn't that sound nice? It can even teach other robots how to do it too! Did you see that in the sky? What? THAT! Oh, it's not a UFO. It's Art. Don't forget! I'm looking for your opinion on what drives you up the wall about technology. What's your pet peeve? People were excited about it all over the world - but it turned out to be the iPocalypse. Lines came to a standstill and phones new and old turned into bricks. I bet the competition is pleased. On Friday night, new BFF's Microsoft and Carl Icahn made yet another proposal to Yahoo. Their plan was basically to dump Jerry Yang and the Board and break up the company. Yahoo's board met on Saturday and - surprise, surprise - turned down this fabulous offer. Kara Swisher at Boomtown was first to report that the U.K.'s Guardian Media Group has snapped up the giant tech news blog Paid Content dot org for something in the thirty million dollar range. Read Write Web thinks it's a good sign. YouTube tried to kill the phenomenon known as RickRolling - but it appears that their April Fool's Day prank only made the meme stronger. Check this out, it's amazing! Homer's email address was hacked! If you're a hard core Simpsons fan and have him as an AIM buddy - don't click on anything that address sends you. The Apple App store launched and over 25% of the software is free. .Mac users are now .Me users -- but "Exchange for the Rest of Us" had kind of a wonky start during the transition And make sure that the area you live in is actually COVERED by AT&T's 3G network before you stand in line for the 3G wonder. There are 10 entire states that have no 3G access. People in the US and the UK are pirating DVDs. For the most part they're DVD's they've bought legally and are for personal use. But there are always some people who pirated material instead of buying a legitimate copy of the film or TV program. And over in Britain, they prefer to copy television shows. Probably because they're usually several season behind us Yanks. Some major news sources ran a picture to accompany an Iranian Missile Launch that turned out to be photo-shopped. Do any of these names mean anything to you? Witchie-poo? Dr. Shrinkton? Marshall, Will & Holly? Sigmund The Sea Monster? The Wall Street Journal, USA Today and The New York Times are all weighing in on what they think of Apple's latest offering. Canada kind of won their battle against Rogers - They've added a "promotional" plan - through August 31st, Canadians can sign up for 6G of data for an extra 30 bucks a month. But wait! They wanted UNLIMITED data! Apple says not to worry about the fact that iPhones can only be activated in the store and not at home - the wait time will only be 10 to 15 minutes. Great. If you're first or second. Not so great if you're tenth, or behind the person who's an Apple n00b. YouTube sure is popular, but it's not really great at making money! So they're going to run pre-roll and post-roll advertising on certain videos even though they know users won't be happy about that. A study by Nielsen says that people spend more time watching television on their sets than they do watching television online. But at least this year they measured how many people were watching online! Last year it wasn't even a question. If you dig virtual worlds but don't dig paying for Second Life, you might try Google's Lively. It's free and you can put your room on your website or social networking page. And now Apple is distancing themselves from them. They were just rumors earlier this week, but now it's confirmed - Apple won't sell the iPhone in their retail stores in Canada. It's a kind of protest against Rogers drumming up all that bad publicity. And they're only sending a few units to the Rogers stores that WILL be selling them, so get there early, Canada! The proposed merger of satellite radio duo Sirius and XM may have hit a snag. A group of State Attorneys General are pushing to have the FCC vote against the deal. And if it goes through, they want them to set aside twenty percent of the frequencies for another company to lease - which would open the door to a more competitive satellite market. It's slow going but considering the companies were given their original licenses under the condition that they would never merge, it's amazing it's gotten this far. Fanboy is an official word! Hey spellcheck! Stop underlining that in red! It's in the Merriam Webster Dictionary along with "Webinar," "Malware," and "Netroots." Google Maps has a beta for walking directions. No more roundabout routes on one-way streets for the hoofers of the world! Ars Technica has five ways for you to keep your PC cool this summer and keep your electricity bills down too. Don't forget! Microsoft says they'll consider buying Yahoo again with an all new board of directors. Yahoo wants them to just go ahead and make an offer now. Kara Swisher says we should be focusing on what their 2Q report will say on July 22nd instead of all the drama. NBC will use their web and mobile coverage of the Olympic games as a "billion dollar research lab." They'll be analyzing all of the traffic on their website to measure user behavior, and as a way to get data for use in future negotiations with online advertisers. Hey! You can play Scrabble on Facebook now! No, not Scrabulous -- Scrabble. As officially sanctioned by EA and Hasbro. I have a feeling Scrabulous players aren't going to make the switch. The Tesla Roadster is all electric and completely sold out. But you didn't want to wait 30 hours to charge up your car anyway, did you? How about a new Toyota Prius? The next model will feature solar power. No, not a solar powered engine. That's too expensive. Just part of the air conditioning. It's symbolic... of something. Maybe you'd like to find out more about GM's Volt? The Volt uses electricity first, and gas as a back-up. But can GM ship it within two years, as promised? For $70 a year it will keep three PCs updated with the latest software plus access to the full MS Office Suite. It seems to be a response to Google Documents. Blockbuster changed their minds about Circuit City - they're not going to buy them after all. Their stock went up, Circuit City's went down. Microsoft may buy Yahoo. We've heard this all before, and some people say it isn't true. But it was enough to push Yahoo stock up about 6%. The 3G iPhone won't be sold online - only in brick and mortar stores. And you'll have to activate it there to get that $199 price. As for your old one - you can turn it into a touch if you deactivate the phone. Or give it to a friend. Woah - when you compare it to other services - texting is expensive! One Blogger did the math. Chinese bloggers are using software to write backwards so that it's harder for internet censors to flag them as controversial. Maybe a lot of people will make the jump from T-Mobile, since they just breached their contracts. Oh Noes! Google Calendar is the latest victim of Phishermen!
