Chris Anderson Speaks for Free
from Geek Entertainment TV on July 02, 2009
When our pal Kevin Smokler slid us the opportunity to interview one of the legendary thinkers and writers of the geekosphere, we pounced on the chance. Chris Anderson resuscitated Wired magazine back from the brink of the geek deadpool and is notable for coining the term The Long Tail, which he penned a book on. Chris is about to release his second book, Free: The Future of a Radical Price, which is already generating controversy on a couple of fronts. One never to rest, Chris also recently launched BookTour.com, a site for authors to more easily line up and promote their book tours and for fans to easily find and meet up with their favorite authors. Chris, like us, is also a big fan of maker culture and is busy building drone airplanes based on open source hardware. A subject we ll save for another episode. Video Guitars are the Future of Music
from Geek Entertainment TV on June 16, 2009
Which comes first, the music or the video? The question is moot now that artisan Ben Lewry of Visionary Instruments, has built an LCD video display into his guitar. After several prototypes, his custom video guitars now can run visualizations or movies by simply popping in a USB thumbdrive into a back panel. Visualizations can even be triggered with MIDI signals by playing the guitar. Steven Wilson, of Porcupine Tree, was so taken by Ben s designs that he s now rocking a video guitar to sold out shows around the world. from FaceBook Yardim - FaceBook Help on May 29, 2009
Author: techvi Added: Thu, 28 May 2009 20:33:21 -0800 Duration: 0First there was MySpace, then there was Facebook, and even though the company was born right around the same time as the other two, Multiply hasn't caught fire the way the other two dominant social networks have. While tech industry knee-jerk reactioneers might think of the company as "yet another social network," the company isn't exactly sitting around waiting while the users magically come out of nowhere. Today, the company rolled out its latest iteration, which focuses on more of the multimedia and privacy features that have come to define Multiply. Rather than a catch-all party-promotion music-mashups hotspot, Multiply CEO Peter Pezaris says Multiply has always been focused more toward the digital mom who's looking for a way to share and organize photos, in addition to other regular social network mainstays like wall posts, blogging, and other expected activities. Should TechVi viewers use the network? We don't expect the social network to replace Facebook, MySpace or ...
