(July 22)[Notes:ANCHOR VOICE] [Notes:road signs with warnings - KSAT]The warnings are clear over this south Texas highway -- get ready for some potentially dangerous weather.And locals are doing just that. [Notes:close of plywood - KSAT] Loading up sheets of plywood to protect their homes and prepare for what's predicted to be Hurricane Dolly.SOT: Frank Surrata, resident: "Last few years, we've had a lot of near misses. But that doesn't mean people are not going to get prepared. Cause we all seen what happened to Katrina and everything else. Better to spend the money now, than spend a lot more later." [Notes:NOAA video]Early Tuesday, the storm was still at Tropical Storm strength. But even that could mean high winds and up to 20 inches of rain. [Notes:map - AP Graphic] And the National Hurricane Center has issued a hurricane warning from Brownsville to Port O'Connor, with tropical storm warnings for even more of the Texas coast. [Notes:NOAA video]Forecasters predict by the time Dolly gets to land, it will be a Category 1 hurricane with sustained winds between 74 and 95 miles an hour. That may happen during the day Tuesday. This footage was recorded on Sunday, July 20, 2008, from the breeze-way of my apartment building. Just after 7:00pm, local time, a summer storm battered the area with wind and rain, thunder with lightning and hail. There were some reports of funnel clouds associated with this storm and the severe weather sirens can be heard. You'll see some really nice scenes of lightning and hear pealing claps of thunder. You'll see how strong the winds are as rain is blown sideways. My neighbor Jeff makes an appearance and declares his enjoyment of stormy weather and his daughters can be seen and heard being intrigued and frightened by the storm. This video was captured from the DV cassette using Pinnacle Movie Box+USB. The video was editied with Vegas 7. The credits were created with Windows Movie Maker.
