A Day In The Life of A Lifecaster

from The Vloggies on April 20, 2007
Duration: 0
This week on The Vloggies Show, Irina tries lifecasting for a day… and asks Jackson West, who needs editing when you can stream live? And the Mommy Vlogger struggles to manage her uber difficult hyperactive child… It s tough being a parent. But on a more serious note, the killings at Virgnia Tech marked a national tragedy, which raised many questions around citizen journalism and mainstream media. The news quickly spread through blogs and online social networking sites and video shot on camera phones was used by mainstream media to report on the event. These kids are so wired that they were able to report on the news first-hand and more quickly than mainstream media. There is a generational divide that now exists between traditional media and social media, raising questions surrounding ethics and accuracy in reporting, as well as authority. It is no longer about an authoritative voice telling the people what is news and how they should view it, people are now able to report on events themselves and then share their opinions with their peers who then collectively form a perspective.
