Another great live performance from the legendary Marquee Club in Swinging London! The Jimi Hendrix Experience performs Purple Haze , one of his signature songs, exclusively for German television. Hendrix said that the title of the song was inspired by a phrase ( purplish haze ) from the science fiction novel The Night of Light by Philip José Farmer. But also the music of the song is famous. Today, the extended dominant guitar chord of the track is widely known as The Hendrix chord . With this technique Hendrix helped to establish the use of chords in popular music. n this lesson, I talk about the Pro's and con's of hanon exersizes. I also go over my person favorite exersizes for beginners in hanon. Some info on the man behind the book: Charles-Louis Hanon (July 2, 1819--March 19, 1900) was a French piano pedagogue and composer. He is most well known for his work The Virtuoso Pianist In 60 Exercises which has become part of the standard method for modern piano teachers. Abby Whiteside (1881-1956) Did not like the Hanon method and advocated use of arm technique. CHECK OUT THE VIDEO I MADE FOR THIS SONG ON blip.tv or revver or...!! My first girlfriend was the captain of the cheer leading squad and cheated on me with two football players - at the same time!! (Her name was Laura but her nickname became....of course...La-whore-uh) Another song idea demo that I recorded by myself in my basement on a Tascam 423 4 track cassette deck: I probably did the rhythm guitar first, then the drums (no click tracks on any of these), then bass , then I sang onto tape and recorded a fifth track: LIVE lead guitar and just "took" the best version. The guitar is probably my first electric - my Gretsch: two humbuckers, hard tail - into some distortion - either an MXR distortion (got stolen) or my friends Tube Screamer into my first amp: 1978 Fender Super Twin Reverb. The drumset was an old, beat up, red flame Ludwig set that we bought with money collected from basement/band party cover charge!
