I recently took a visit to Santa Cruz with my friend Lindsay and we rode the super rickety Giant Dipper wooden roller coaster. Santa Cruz is the only US west coast city to still have a boardwalk with amusement park rides.

Day 4 of Videoblogging Week's entry is a quick edit from a LunchMeet interview I did with Nic Hill, director of Truth In Numbers, a new documentary about Wikipedia. I had nothing to do with the monkeys, Nic hooked me up with that clip. Enjoy.

Today was a extraordinary day as Josh Wolf was released from federal prison after 7.5 months for a contempt of court charge. He was the longest held American journalist in US history. Now that he's out, he's got a couple projects he will be working on. From his press conference today on the steps of San Francisco City Hall.

For day 2 of Videoblogging Week 2007, I fuck around with some scrappy unused footage I took last week. Synchro is hard. Music track stolen from Schlomo's day 2. It seemed to perfect.

Scenes from the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC. I shot the footage using my new Sanyo Xacti HD2 camera in Web video mode. The results are really grainy, so I will probably shoot more cherry blossom footage next weekend in a higher-resolution mode.

While we were out visiting AMD, they gave us the opportunity to enter their Performance Testing Lab, an area guarded by dual steel doors that seemingly required both a key and special knocking code in order to enter. Once inside and sure that our lives were safe, we spoke with Mark Welker about how AMD tests their chip technologies across different platforms, software, and games. He talks to us about benchmarks, what they mean in the real world, and how they can be gamed to show what you want them to show. Even better, Mark gives out his corporate email address and offers to send the performance testing scripts to anyone who asks so that people at home can do it themselves.
