Romania presents three artists at the 53rd International Art Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia 2009: Stefan Constantinescu, Andrea Faciu and Ciprian Muresan. Their works are shown within the framework of a site-specific installation conceived by the studioBASAR architectural group as a theatre set. At the 53rd International Art Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia 2009 Greece is represented by Lucas Samaras. Lucas Samaras presents the multi-installation Paraxena in the Greek Pavilion in the Giardini. The show brings together three recent series of photographic and video works produced between 2005 and 2009, juxtaposed with a discrete group of sculptural works from the mid 1960s. http://www.vernissage.tv | On Sunday, June 7, 2009, the 53rd International Art Exhibition officially opened its doors. The show is curated by Daniel Birnbaum and is titled Fare Mondi, Making Worlds. VernissageTV starts its coverage with the Palazzo delle Esposizioni (or Biennale Pavilion) in the Giardini. There, visitors find a huge spiderweb-like work by Tomas Saraceno, an installation by Swedish Nathalie Djurberg (who won the Silver Lion for a Promising Young Artist in the Fare Mondi / Making Worlds exhibition) and the Caf designed by Tobias Rehberger, who won the Golden Lion for the Best Artist of the exhibition Fare Mondi / Making Worlds (with the work "Was du liebst, bringt dich auch zum Weinen).

This video shows an excerpt of the lecture Liam Gillick held last month (February 12, 2009) at the Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin (the full length version is available on our HD page). The lecture was organized within the framework of his upcoming exhibition in Venice as the German contribution to the 53rd Venice Biennial.
