Sparkee turns ten

The Rutgers Scarlet Knight, the Seton Hall Pirate and other team mascots helped celebrate the 10th birthday party of Sparkee, the mascot for the Somerset Patriots of Bridgewater. Getting sprayed with extreme pepper spray

Members of the New Jersey National Guard are in Fort Hood training before their deployment to Iraq. Before any soldiers can guard an Iraqi detainee they must be sprayed with Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) a very powerful pepper spray like substance. At the Secaucus Doll and Teddy Bear Hospital, patients arrive with heads cracked open, limbs torn off and other serious injuries, and they leave looking as if nothing happened. According to Dr. Luis H. Casas who has been taking care of dolls stuffed animals and toys for over 30 years, "this job is very important because you're working with people's feelings." The Ocean Grove Great Auditorium's pipe organ

This summer marks the 100th anniversary of the Ocean Grove Great Auditorium's pipe organ. The organ has over 10,000 pipes and is one of the largest in the world. Playing Jazz on the streets of Newark

Lonnie Younglood moved to Newark from Georgia as a teenager and found work playing in jazz bands on what was then a thriving club circuit. He went on to a successful recording career while Newark's jazz scene declined. Ballooning over New Jersey

At 25 years old, Sally Mazzocchi is among the youngest female commercial balloon pilots in the state. She is also the director of the Quick Chek New Jersey Festival of Ballooning at Solberg Airport in Readington. The three day Festival is the largest summertime hot air balloon and music festival in North America and offers 39 hours of entertainment over the weekend, from mass hot air balloon ascensions to live concerts. Competing for Lightning Wheels

Over two dozen athletes compete for Lightning Wheels, a team of disabled athletes from Children's Specialized Hospital. Three athletes who have graduated from the program will compete in the upcoming Paralympics in Beijing, China. The annual Nathan's hot dog eating contest

Thousands of people gathered at Coney Island on Friday to watch last year's hot dog eating champion Joey Chestnut face off against Japanese eating sensation Takeru Kobayashi. The two competitors ate their way to a tie of 59 hot dogs each after ten minutes and for the first time ever the event went into overtime with Chestnut just barely taking the title.
