Choreographer Sergio Trujillo talks about the development of the new Broadway musical "Memphis" and how the dance styles he employs in it draw upon research he'd already done for several other musicals. He also talks about his childhood in Colombia and how music was part of the country's daily life; his discovery, while studying science at the University of Toronto, of his love and aptitude for dancing; his journeyman years as a Broadway dancer in shows including "Jerome Robbins' Broadway", the 1992 "Guys and Dolls" and "Fosse"; his transition into choreography at Canada's Stratford Festival and in London's West End; how he created dance moves for "Jersey Boys" when the original Four Seasons only stood and sang; why "The Mambo Kings" was vital to his career even though it was never seen in New York; his many collaborations with director Des McAnuff, including the 2009 "Guys and Dolls" -- where he took his inspiration not from Frank Loesser, but from Louis Prima; why his credit isn't "choreographer" on "Next to Normal"; his meticulous preparation, which includes already having all the choreography worked out for this spring's "The Addams Family"; and his plans for his directing debut in 2010 with "Havana", and whether he thinks that will cause him to ultimately leave choreography behind. Ride the Lightning is the title track of the 1984 album by heavy metal band Metallica. The original version of the song was found on the Horsemen Of The Apocalypse demo with Dave Mustaine and Ron McGovney. The version found on Ride the Lightning is slightly different due to input from Cliff Burton so he was credited as well as Hetfield, Ulrich and Mustaine. The theme of the song is that of a man who has been sentenced to execution in the electric chair. He opens by acknowledging his guilt ( guilty as 'charged' ), but still questions who made the judge God to say that he should die. Later on the man starts to feel the fear while the execution is prepared and asks himself what he is doing in the electric chair. By the end of the song he just wants to get it over with. It is speculated that the song is based on a 1961 episode of The Twilight Zone written by Charles Beaumont entitled Shadow Play . The episode begins in a courtroom, where Adam Grant (Dennis Weaver) is convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to the electric chair. Shouting, It's happening all over again! , Grant insists that his trial, conviction, and execution are all part of a recurring nightmare, and that when he dies, the world around him and all its occupants will likewise cease to exist. In a live recording from 1983, James Hetfield states that This one is dedicated to our friend in Georgia , leading to the possibility that it is about an actual person as opposed to fictional events. In an interview with Guitar World magazine, James Hetfield has stated that the song is not an indictment of the death penalty, in which he is a believer, but simply an exploration of the concept of being in a terrible situation with no control. PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION!! Here is another lyrics video I made with Metallica. I just got the album today and I felt like posting my favorite song from it on youtube today! This only took me 2 hours to make :-) Now to clear things up... 1. I get the girl/phone joke now :P 2. I know I wrote 'I'm bored' in the solo. I did NOT say I'm bored of the solo, during my work I got bored of putting quote crap so I just put that I was bored of working, and to just wait until the end of the solo for more lyrics. 3. I know I messed up on some of the lyrics, but don't take it personal. Few mistakes happen to everyone once in a while, but there is no way I will delete this video with loads of views/comments/ratings just to change a few errors. 4. The quotes aren't mine. 5. I know that some of you don't like the quotes, you'd rather have pictures instead. I put pictures at the beginning but deleted them from my documents afterward so they got deleted. So therefore, I was too lazy to put them back in and just put quotes instead. If you don't like it, suck it up, you can listen to the studio version itself. 6. I know that before the solo, there is a Fix me! Shout right before then that I forgot to put in. I'm sorry for that, I didn't know what was being said there. I was looking at the booklet that came with the CD for lyrics, and it didn't show what was said there. If you want to, go ahead and shout out Fix me! At that part, or whatever you think they're saying there, just to make the video look better, and it makes you look good too :D Thank you to everyone who enjoyed this video and who commented positively!
