I promised I would do an upbeat song next, so here you go! This is Viva La Vida by Coldplay and I'm singing backup harmony. I can't keep still when this song comes on, it's just so catchy! I try to be very careful about the lyrics to the songs I sing. I tried to figure this song out and I couldn't, lol! There are so many interpretations out there, from it being about Napoleon, to Henry VIII, to the Catholic Church! From what I could gather from the band's statements it seems to be about a fictional king and is meant to show how power corrupts. Feel free to let me know how you interpret it! I played around with some special effects for this one. :) Hope you like it! Sorry it's been so long since my last video! I had a nice vacation in Virginia to visit with friends and family. :) But I'm back! I decided to do a solo because I've had a lot of requests for one and it's been a while since I did one. Plus this one goes a bit into my lower register for a change! This is Breathe Me by Sia. This is harmony to Brooke White's version of Let It Be by The Beatles. I am a huge Brooke White fan! For those of you who don't know, she was a contestant on American Idol. She was voted off last night, so I guess you could say this is my tribute to her. :) Brooke didn't have the strongest powerhouse voice this season, but she brought something special to the stage. Her voice was extremely unique and the way she connected with the songs she sang showed what a true musician she is. Her vulnerability was so refreshing and genuine. I am sad she is off the show, but so excited to see what she does next! I believe she has an amazing career ahead of her and I can't wait to hear songs of her own. :) This song has an interesting history! From wikipedia: McCartney said he wrote "Let It Be", after a dream he had had about his mother during the tense period surrounding the Get Back/Let It Be sessions. McCartney explained that his mother—who died of cancer when McCartney was fourteen—was the inspiration for the "Mother Mary" lyric. McCartney later said, "It was great to visit with her again. I felt very blessed to have that dream. So that got me writing 'Let It Be'." He also said—in a later interview about the dream—that his mother had told him, "It will be alright, just let it be." Oh, as a sidenote, I apologize if the video is a little out of sync with the audio at times. Every time I put a picture in, I would have to try to sync the video to the audio again, and so I'm sure at some point I probably didn't sync it perfectly. Ok, so this is here by popular demand, lol! I did a really fun collaboration video of this song with felsberg2 and songpidgeon, 2 very talented youtubers. Here is the link so you can check it out if you haven't yet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMlKnhxmbE0 However, I messed up on it because when I recorded the audio I didn't know I was supposed to record it with just my voice and I recorded it with the music as well. So when Bernd (felsberg2) put it together with the music I was a bit hard to hear. Because of that a lot of people asked that I put up the original video I made of just myself singing with the background music. So here it is for you! However, it is definitely missing Bernd's amazing guitar work! So let's see...she's a ghost who is a bit crazy, extremely passionate, hugely romantic, largely self-centered, very stubborn, and somewhat scared and fragile. I just got a brand new PINK laptop! Yes, I'm very excited. Happy Valentine's Day!! :) I decided to try something a little different this time...let me know how it sounds! If you are proficient in either sound recorder or Audacity and can give me some tips, please send me a message! For some reason when I recorded the melody it recorded at a slower speed than the harmony, and I had to then slow down the harmony by changing the speed in post. I would love to know how I could fix that problem easier if any of you have any ideas! I was introduced to Regina Spektor after Pinkducktape challenged me to do harmony to her song Musicbox. I then found this song and was blown away. It truly is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard and I wanted it to be the first song I sung with my new mic! It's definitely a song open to interpretation. I personally interpreted it as Delilah looking back on her time with Samson. What if she had truly been in love with him but didn't realize it until it was too late? What if her betrayal became the greatest mistake of her life, a burden that would plague her forever? I see this song as a tragic, desperate woman longing for what might have been. p.s. Yay!
