A Conversation with Frank Barbieri and Peter Hoskins

I had a chance to sit down with two CEOs today and have a great conversation about monetizing video and taking it to the mobile platform, under the auspices of promoting a brand new partnership between the organizations. The two CEOs were Peter Hoskins of ManiaTV and Frank Barbieri of Transpera. Between the two, they contained a veritable wealth of experience and information of use to independent producers and aspiring online video players, and I got them to divulge as much as I could during the time we had.Chances are, if you're not familiar with ManiaTV itself, you've heard of a lot of their headline talent. Featured shows on their network include Dave Navarro's Spread Entertainment, National Lampoon's Lemmings, Arcade, and All Access (not to mention it's the network where Tom Green Live, who we spoke to earlier in the week, got its start). Transpera is an organization they're partnering with to deliver and monetize their content on the mobile platform. ManiaTV is primarily using their own inside sales staff to sell on their inventory, but for those without a dedicated sales team, Transpera offers monetization options themselves through their own sales team as well as through advertising partnerships. These are two folks that really understand the online video market, and in the interview they provide solid technology reccomendations as well as insight into winning strategies for content producers in terms of making not only a solid production but one that brings home the bacon.
