Joseph Stalin: The Man of Steel (1879-1953) -One of the most powerful and murderous dictators in history, Stalin was the Supreme Ruler of the Soviet Union for a quarter of a century. His regime of terror caused the death and suffering of tens of millions(±40), but he also oversaw the war machine that played a key role in the defeat of Nazism. Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili was born on 18 December 1879 in Gori, Georgia, which was then part of the Russian empire. His father was a cobbler and Stalin grew up in modest circumstances. He studied at a theological seminary where he began to read Marxist literature. He never graduated, instead devoting his time to the revolutionary movement against the Russian monarchy. He spent the next 15 years as an activist and on a number of occasions was arrested and exiled to Siberia. Stalin was not one of the decisive players in the Jewish Bolshevik seizure of power in 1917, but he soon rose through the ranks of the party. In 1922 he was made general secretary of the Communist Party, a post not considered particularly significant at the time but which gave him control over appointments and thus allowed him to build up a base of support. After Lenin's death in 1924, Stalin promoted himself as his political heir and gradually outmaneuvered his rivals. By the late 1920s, Stalin was effectively the dictator of the Soviet Union. His forced collectivization of agriculture cost millions of lives, while his program of rapid industrialization achieved huge increases in Soviet productivity and economic growth but at great cost. Moreover, the population suffered immensely during the Great Terror of the 1930s, during which Stalin purged the party of 'enemies of the people', resulting in the execution of thousands and the exile of millions to the gulag system of slave labor camps. These purges severely depleted the Red Army, and despite repeated warnings, Stalin was ill prepared for Hitler's attack on the Soviet Union in June 1941. His political future, and that of the Soviet Union, hung in the balance, but Stalin recovered to lead his country to victory. The human cost was enormous but that mattered little to him. After World War Two, the Soviet Union entered the nuclear age and ruled over an empire which included most of eastern Europe. Increasingly paranoid, Stalin died of a stroke on 5 March 1953. This is his story. What most of us don't know is that American college students check their First Amendment rights and individual freedom at the door.

"If by the mere force of numbers a majority should deprive a minority of any clearly written constitutional right, it might, in a moral point of view, justify revolution" - Abraham Lincoln "Every revolution was first a thought in one man's mind" What is our Revolution? Liberty, The Constitution, Freedom, Peace, American Roots, Restore the Republic, 1776 Now Smash Tyranny, "So long as the people do not care to exercise their freedom those who wish to tyrannize will do so" Patriot Act of 2001- Severely undermines basic constitutional rights. Allowing government to spy, increases government to spy, increases government secrecy, removes checks of government power. The Military Commissions Act of 2006- Grants retroactive legal immunity to government officials to use torture. Real ID Act- Creates a federal identity document that every American will need in order to fly on commercial airlines, enter government buildings, open a bank account, and more. Coming May 2008???(Soon they try to also make American take ID Cards with RFID chips in them). Our Government, is under the control of the Rockefellers and the Federal Reserve, wants to put an implant RFID in everyone in the world and on all the money printed in the money. And if your chipped, if you protest any thing they do, they will simply turn off your chip(Hint: That means kill you!) "The prestige of government has undoubtedly been lowered considerably by the Prohibition law. For nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase of crime in this country is closely connected with this." -- Albert Einstein "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." -- Lord Acton (1887) "Liberty is not the power of doing what we like, but the right of being able to do what we ought." -- Lord Acton "The most certain test by which we judge whether a country is really free is the amount of security enjoyed by minorities." -- Lord Acton The strength of the Constitution lies entirely in the determination of each citizen to defend it. Only if every single citizen feels duty bound to do his share in this defense are the constitutional rights secure." -- Albert Einstein "Fundamentally, there are only two ways of coordinating the economic activities of millions. One is central direction involving the use of coercion--the technique of the army and of the modern totalitarian state. The other is voluntary cooperation of individuals--the technique of the marketplace." -- Milton Friedman, Nobel-prize winning economist. An Orwell inspired view into our not so distant future, created especially for the 4x4 film festival. Festival rules= science fiction genre, less than 4 charachter, less than 4 locations, no more than 4 minutes long, the number 4 must appear and it must be edited only in the camera. ARRGGGHHHHH a nightmare. This turned out ok, note the lighting is meant to change. The original screenplay for this was written by yours truly. It is a little different though.
