Part 1 - BREAKFAST Ypenburg, The Hague, Holland. Watch the third group of artists in residence: Alenka Korenjak, Masa Cvetko, Ana Celigoj, Tomaz Celigoj, Blaz Kandus, a Slovenian gang of architects and performance artists. ABOUT THE PROJECT: Method To get in touch with the local inhabitants, we have chosen the act of cooking. We decided to prepare nine dinners at homes of the local residents who will respond to our direct mail and advertisement and will agree to participate in our project. Each time, our group will provide all the necessary ingredients and prepare a dinner for two families in the kitchen of a particular family. Local Slovenian food will be served. Dinners will be organized on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. At the dinner, the hosts will be interviewed. The whole process will be documented by camera. We will take notes of individual kitchen layouts, the number of family members and their eating habits, food and kitchen preferences, as well as their reactions to Slovene food. On Sunday there will be a Slovene breakfast/brunch at the gallery open for everyone. At breakfast, the locals will be able to discuss the dinners, exchange cooking tips, and get a taste of other Slovene dishes or simply mingle and get to know each other. In that time some of the photographs of the dinner events will already be exhibited. We will take great care in documenting the events in the Netherlands and will present them in Ljubljana. Words on the walls. That's how the Estonian family Ojari deals with the empty rooms in the House in Transition. As Triin wrote in her proposal:"Our project is based on the idea of normal functioning of a family - the value of the everyday life routine. Suburbian housing areas are global dream products for families, housewives, non-city-type-of-persons etc. The planning of suburbia, design of its private and public spaces is glorification of the intimate lifestyle as well as reflection of some of the consumer societies basic principles. We were invited to take part in the project as a family and so we can "normalize" the otherwise non-typical artist's residence in Ypenburg again - we use it as hundreds of our neighbours. We may add some simple everyday objects to the private space like kid's playground accessories, plants etc. We will personalize the anonymous space. The geographical relocation for two weeks is just temporary circumstance, we will continue our daily routine, we will work and meet friends. The house will be a home for a change."
