Stars in Rewind: Val Kilmer Sings
from Cinematical July 14, 2008
Filed under: Trailers and Clips, Stars in Rewind ***NSFW WARNING: The F-bomb gets thrown around a bunch in this clip of "The End."*** There's an interesting rumor going around that Val Kilmer is teaming up with 50 Cent for a little music. According to Ace Showbiz, the actor stated in a recent interview that 50 Cent liked one of the songs he had written and said "I want to help." How much the pair (who recently worked on Microwave Park together) will collaborate on the tune remains to be seen, but it did get me thinking of old-school Kilmer. Seventeen years ago, he pretty much morphed into Jim Morrison for Oliver Stone's take on The Doors. Above is a clip of Jim-Val singing "The End" and shocking everyone with his unabashed language. Aside from it being a great song, it's a good example of just how spot-on Kilmer was. Last Rewind Answer: This time around, the majority got it right -- Jason Segel was the guy. Talons of Spring: Comfort Drag
from Insomnia Radio: Daily Dose MP3 Blog May 17, 2008
Channeling the creative spirit and often times legendary vocal delivery of Jim Morrison, Romanian born and Los Angeles based artist Andrei Tutunaru of Talons of Spring has just finished putting the final touches on his debut video for his visionary piece, Comfort Drag . The video, which debuted on May 15th, was directed by Chris Calazia in a very detailed film noir style influenced by Anton Corbijn s work with Depeche Mode. Most everything in the music video was filmed in a rented apartment in East Los Angeles, and you can see the passion clearly evident in the work and in the acting by both Andrei T. and Marissa Hart. The stop animation photography segments also help add another dimension to the piece, bringing to mind darker stop motion videos by the artist Tool. Talons of Spring is currently gearing up for a live show and screening of the music video here in Los Angeles, and currently recording their second venture entitled American Noir for release in 2008. They are also seeking to find investors for a conceptualized full-length film based on eight spoken word tracks, songs, and instrumental compositions. The film shall also be directed by Chris Calzia. Sample a few tracks from ToS s self titled work at myspace or for purchase at e-music. This is not work/child safe. [cs] DOWNLOAD | SUBSCRIBE Spread It Around: Hide Sites

ROCKOLLECTIONS: WINTER 2008 PT.4 CONCLUSION
from WLSO.FM March 10, 2008
It has taken so long to get these 4 Podcasts up, I thought I might run out of Winter. Besides these, I have been working on the next 5 radio shows, which translates into 10 Podcasts. So there you have one reason, plus the aforementioned problems and wait to get this series out there. Actually last night here in Brooklyn it was in the 20 s with a wind chill of 21 degrees, and it is cold tonight, so my beloved Winter ain t over yet. I am going to open up this final chapter with a set of music about those freezing Cold Winds that are always able to slip in through the cracks, no matter what kind of house you live in. We will hear from the Fairport Convention, the Doors and a great but grossly ignored group called Spirit. I have some info on the famous 1816 Winter Without Summer- in which Connecticut had blizzards in JUNE On A Winter s Night by Willie Nininger- with lyrics like these, just for now, we ll stay by the radio, we ll sing every song we know, turn off all the lights, wrap the blankets warmly, shut the windows tight, put your arms around me- for all we know, it may snow tonight . And an equally wonderful song from Gordon Lightfoot, one of the rare non-Christmas songs to have sleigh bells in it. Listen for them. I have chosen an appropriate and meaningful to me song to end it all with. This was great fun for me, I hope we have made the case that Winter songs can be just as good as Summer ones. And hey, remember it is STILL Winter- for all we know, it MAY snow tonight!

Author: revverhbt Added: Sun, 11 Nov 2007 22:55:10 -0800 Duration: 89This video clip of Jim Morrison was discovered among films that WFSU (a PBS station operated by Florida State University) had donated to the state of Florida in 1989. After it was found it was digitally converted and posted to the state's film arching website. The video was found accidentally by Jaime Madden. When he watched the video he said, "Oh my god! This is Jim Morrison!''' Finds like these definitely highlight an archivists' duty to pay attention to detail!

[Show #81] Massey TD5, Quincy Jones & A Mic Shootout

New Quincy Jones Video Podcast Optimizing Windows XP For Audio Diddy Recruits New Assistant Online Eagles New Album Almost Ready Tuna Pitch Tuning Widget Crosstalk: Mike gets new gear! PSN In Jason Heath's Double Bass Blog ProTools VS Analog Listening Challenge Tronical Power Tune System Featured Performance: We recently featured a news item about the sad and untimely death of Brad Delp of the band Boston. Michael Masse wrote us about this and a tribute he's produced. Michael writes, "I wanted to share with you a recording I recently completed as a tribute to Brad Delp, the lead singer of Boston who passed away recently. When I heard the circumstances surrounding his death, a suicide, it broke my heart. That someone who brought millions of people so much joy could feel so sad and aloneâthereâs no thought more tragic to a fellow musician and fan. "One of my favorite Boston songs has always been A Man Iâll Never Be from Donât Look Back. That song hits home for me even more now. It expresses a feeling of inadequacy that I think we all can relate to at some point, and I expect that song gave Brad some comfort, too. "Hereâs my humble renditionâitâs sort of an acoustic arrangement. I could never do Brad's voice justice, but I wanted to record it to mark his passing. I performed all the vocals and music, and recorded and mixed it in my home project studio. The chain was a Neumann TLM49 into a Pacifica pre amp then through my RME Fireface 800 into Cubase 4." Answer To Last Week's Trivia Question: Q: The song, Light My Fire was recorded and released at approximately the same time by two different artists. The more famous one today is by Jim Morrison with The Doors, but the song was equally successful by another singer/guitarist. Who is he? A: Jose Feliciano! This week's winner is Steve Sawyer! Congratulations, you're taking home a copy of Guitar and Drum Trainer courtesy of Ryan Smith over at GuitarAndDrumTrainer.com. Honorable mention goes out to Steve Ayon, John Demetre, Chris Cowan, Keith Sommers, Tom Franklin, Robert Willey and Roger Miller and Don Howatt, who both called in their answers using our Listener Hot Line: (928) 395-1343.
