Imagens feitas por um cinegrafista amador mostraram que o volume de água durante temporal que atingiu o Rio Grande do Sul era tanto que até ondas se formaram em um córrego da região metropolitana de Porto Alegre, e um homem aproveitou para surfar. Em Cidreira, no Litoral Norte do estado, o teto de uma escola desabou. 280 alunos estavam nas salas de aula. Dez ficaram feridos, três em estado mais grave. Em todo o estado, cinco pessoas morreram durante o temporal. Mais de três mil casas acabaram danificadas. Partes de prédios desabaram. Árvores e postes de energia foram derrubados e danificados.
