For those of you out there who are fans of the Cooking Mama series of games for the Nintendo DS and Wii, you may be delighted to know that Majesco is about ready to spring the second installment of the Wii portion of the series on you, coming this October. We were able to get a quick demo of the game during E3 2008, and immediately realized that the successor to the original seems to be a better game all around. Specifically, a lot of the frustrating actions you needed to do in the original are replaced by very intuitive Wii Remote actions that anyone can pull off. Also, if you mess up, you aren t pretty much eliminated like you were the first time around. A few new game modes round things out. Hit the video for all the details, and prepare yourself for more cartoony kitchen battles.

E3 2008: Flock demoed by CAPCOM
from The Bleeding Edge MPEG4 July 28, 2008
We were able to spend some time with CAPCOM during E3 2008, and they gave us a look at their very fun herding simulator, Flock. Yes, a herding simulator, but they are referring to it as more of a sandbox puzzle game. What they mean by that is that there are many ways to solve any given level, and the user can get creative and choose a method that is most fun for them. The point of the game is to move farm animals around a quilt-like environment using a UFO of sorts. The quilt is where the world lies, and everything in the game looks to be stitched together, which gives it quite a bit of charm. Depending on how you herd the animals, and change the level, you affect that different ways that you can solve each puzzle. The game is similar to Lemmings, will support co-op online gaming, and will have over 50 levels. If that isn t enough, there will also be a level editor for you to play with, and you can share any custom level you build online as well. The game will be released on Xbox Live Arcade, Playstation Network, and PC. Check out the full demo in this episode, and watch out for the awesome Rube Goldberg level near the end.

Bleeding Edge TV 283: Nintendo’s Reggie spotted at Microsoft’s E3 Booth
from The Bleeding Edge MPEG4 July 18, 2008
We were checking out the new Xbox 360 Experience Dashboard, when who should walk in but Reggie Fils-Aimé, CEO of Nintendo of America? Gear Live caught him earlier at the Nintendo E3 Media Briefing, and we managed to capture a few quick shots of Reggie checking out what s new in Xbox. Best part of the whole thing was how the Microsoft peeps were rushing to get photos of him and were almost bending over backwards to cater to him. They even asked if he would make an Xbox Avatar of himself, but as you hear in the video, he declines because he has to scoot.

Bleeding Edge TV 279: The Wait for iPhone 3G
from The Bleeding Edge MPEG4 July 15, 2008
We were quite nearly first in line at the Alderwood Mall Apple Store in Lynnwood, WA for the launch of iPhone 3G. Sure the purchasing experience was a fiasco, but overall the night was great fun. We had an exclusive Tap Tap Revenge tournament, along with a giveaway of the excellent Monster LRG iPhone cases, and even an impromptu listening demo of the Beats by Dr. Dre headphones, which we recently unboxed. We must admit, towards the end we were kind of jaded over the whole thing, since between everyone in our group we had a 15 iPhone mixture of original iPhones and iPhone 3G units, all of which didn t work due to the activation issues - but to be fair, the employees at the Alderwood Mall Apple Store location were all top-notch. Check out the full adventure in the video.

At HP s Connecting Your World event in Berlin, Germany, we talked with John Cook, VP of marketing for HP s Consumer PC group. He gave us a hands-on first look at the beautiful new HP TouchSmart PC. One thing we really liked about the new TouchSmart is its completely redone interface. The software looks clean, polished, useful, and eminently easy to use. It would be great, however, if the TouchSmart made more use of multi-touch. Cook demonstrates a pinch gesture in the software but that s pretty much it. We re keeping our eyes peeled for more multi-touch functionality in upcoming software updates and releases.

Bleeding Edge TV 259: Reactrix WAVEscape 3D vision system
from The Bleeding Edge MPEG4 February 25, 2008
Have you ever wanted to play your Wii without having to have that pesky Wiimote in your hand? Reactrix hopes that their WAVEscape product might come close to providing that experience. We got a look at it during CES. The WAVEscape contains a camera that can track the motion of multiple people, distinguishing each person individually. Everyone can use natural motion to interact with different things on the screen, including games. Now, we aren t sure when, if ever, the WAVEscape technology will be available in the home. It is more designed as a cool diversion that can be used commercially. It s all about the engaging advertising experience - you know, punch the panda and maybe get a coupon? WAVEscape is the brainchild of Reactriz and TYZX. They plan on having over 100 of these out and about by the end of the year.
