Tyrannosaurus Rex - Rigging & Animation

Tyrannosaurus Rex - Rigging & Animation

from Streetfire TV on May 05, 2008
Duration: 32
This was my final project for the VIZA615 class, for which I modeled a t-rex, then rigged it and animated it using Maya 7. The main objective was to develop a full-body rig for a creature, handle its skin deformations by having appropriate joint placements and painting skin weights, and then perform a biologically accurate walk cycle animation using some reference videos.

Cat Pounce 1

from EricMBloggie on December 03, 2007
Duration: 4
Here is a playblast of my progress from my VIZA 613 final. The assignment is a rigging and animation pair project. This will be about half the animation of the cat, the next bit I will animate is him jumping and running away from the Laser Mouse which he has inadvertently activated with his pouncing!

Infringement Conviction

Infringement Conviction

from EricMBloggie on November 18, 2007
Duration: 80
This short movie was designed to teach those of us in the VIZA 612 class about compositing real-world objects into a different scene. I came up with the idea of a picture who did not want to be edited, and my group and I were off. I think it works well, though we could have pushed the interaction farther.lex Fleming: Script, acting, film grain, eraserShyam K: Convict background, convict window placementChristine Liu: Storyboards, lighting, titling, head sequenceBen Sutherland: Idea, director, compositing, computer interactionhttp://www-viz.tamu.edu/Original Video

Coffee Break

Coffee Break

from EricMBloggie on November 18, 2007
Duration: 74
Coffee Break is my VIZA 612 final project, along with with Jonathan Penney and Ranjith Perumalil. The project overall was a success, though I m not happy with the rotoscoping of the coffee cup retrieval scene, though it taught me a lot about how to set up a scene for easier compositing in the future. Good times. Special thanks to Telefauna, who graciously allowed us to use their song Phantom Limb . All: Script, camera work, lighting Jonathan Penney: CG Tunnel scene, sound effects, credits Ranjith Perumalil: CG Desert scene Ben Sutherland: Film editing, matting, rotoscoping

Rigid Bodies Test 01

Rigid Bodies Test 01

from EricMBloggie on November 13, 2007
Duration: 172
Assignment from Physically Based Modeling and Animation (VIZA 659) at the Texas A&M Visualization Laboratory (a.k.a. the Viz Lab http://www-viz.tamu.edu/). This project is a somewhat sad attempt at a rigid body system of 1 object attached to a string. The beginning of the video proves that I got the string simulatoin to work properly, but when combined with the rigid body object, the simulation mostly just b lows up. Help me. Programmed entirely in C++ and OpenGL using the Qt interface library.

Flocking System 1

Flocking System 1

from EricMBloggie on November 06, 2007
Duration: 176
Assignment from Physically Based Modeling and Animation (VIZA 659) at the Texas A&M Visualization Laboratory (a.k.a. the Viz Lab http://www-viz.tamu.edu/). This project is a flocking system of 25 objects (birdoid objects, or boids) that interact with eachother through three main principles, flock centering, velocity matching, and collision avoidance. In this video I change the parameters as the simulation runs to show the effects of various parameter combinations. Programmed entirely in C++ and OpenGL using the Qt interface library.

Duration: 99
Assignment from Physically Based Modeling and Animation (VIZA 659) at the Texas A&M Visualization Laboratory (a.k.a. the Viz Lab http://www-viz.tamu.edu/). This one is a triangulated springy mesh attached at the four corners, being subjected to varying amounts of gravity and wind, as well as variable spring constants and damper values. Programmed entirely in C++ and OpenGL using the Qt Interface Library.

Bouncing Ball Simulation

Bouncing Ball Simulation

from EricMBloggie on November 04, 2007
Duration: 103
Assignment 1 from Physically Based Modeling and Animation (VIZA 659) at the Texas A&M Visualization Laboratory (a.k.a. the Viz Lab http://www-viz.tamu.edu/). This one is a ball bouncing inside a box. The ball is subjected to gravity, wind, air friction, ground friction, and loses energy on each bounce based on the Rho value in the lower left portion of the screen. I also have controls set up to give the ball extra bursts of velocity in the x y and z axes. Programmed entirely in C++ and OpenGL using the Qt interface library.

Duration: 96
Assignment from Physically Based Modeling and Animation (VIZA 659) at the Texas A&M Visualization Laboratory (a.k.a. the Viz Lab http://www-viz.tamu.edu/). This project is a system of particles with variable motion trails that intersect arbitarily rotated planes in space, and create a cascading waterfall effect when subjected to gravity and various bursts of velocity along the x, y, and z axes.Programmed entirely in C++ and OpenGL using the Qt interface library.
