Ting Tings Stay Fresh With 'Ghostbusters' and Vodka

Ting Tings Stay Fresh With 'Ghostbusters' and Vodka

from Spinner on August 03, 2009
Duration: 0
Filed under: Concerts and Tours, News, Exclusive To get pumped before a show, some bands huddle up and say a prayer while others might do a random chant. Katie White of the Ting Tings, who braved a rocky flight from the U.K. with bandmate Jules De Martino to perform at All Points West last weekend, loves to down a cocktail and sing some UB40 before she steps onto the stage. "We drink vodka and Red Bull because halfway through the set I'm so tired and lose so much energy," White tells Spinner. "I also have been singing 'Red Red Wine' by UB40, and I don't know why I keep singing that a lot before I go onstage." If that doesn't help, the band has their own favorite tracks that give them that extra energy boost to perform -- 'Once in a Lifetime' by the Talking Heads for De Martino and Ray Parker Jr.'s 'Ghostbusters' theme for White. "We do this thing on stage when Jules plays 'Ghostbusters' to the crowd where he kind of DJs midway through the set and gives me 20 seconds to breathe," White says. "It's brilliant because it's like, 'Yeah, come on!'"

Watch This: A Musical Tribute to 'American Psycho'

Watch This: A Musical Tribute to 'American Psycho'

from Cinematical on July 23, 2009
Duration: 0
It's not often that two of my favorite things come together, but Tom Cruise impersonator extraordinaire/film actor Miles Fisher has managed to do just that by combining the Talking Heads and American Psycho. Over at his personal website he's launched a musical tribute to Psycho in a video for This Must Be the Place (possibly one of the best Talking Heads songs ever written, but I digress) -- and what do you know -- I don't hate it. The song is the first release off his self-titled EP, which you can download for free if you're into that kind of thing. All your favorite moments from Psycho get a nod, including Bateman's infamous Huey Lewis and The News speech, the business cards and facials, and we even get the creepiest three-ways ever to go on film. The video stars Fisher doing a pretty decent Bale/Bateman alongside Lydia Hearst (a model/socialite who is also heir to William Randolph Hearst) filling in as the 'hooker' in the story (I'm sure Great Grandpa would be thrilled). Of course, last fall it was announced that Psycho was in line for a Broadway re-imagining that would turn Ellis' yuppie mass murderer into a song-and-dance man. So I have to wonder if Fisher thought he'd get in on the ground floor and get to work on his 'audition tape' a little earlier than the rest? Especially since the last time he did a good celebrity impersonation we even forgave him for taking a role in Superhero Movie. After the jump: This Must Be the Place, and remember, this is an American Psycho tribute, so things get a little NSFW...Filed under: Drama, Music & Musicals, Fandom, Trailers and ClipsContinue reading Watch This: A Musical Tribute to 'American Psycho' Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Psycho Killer by Clint Crisher is a cover from Clint Crishers addictive collection entitled Terrific Distraction will leave fans of pop thirsting for more! Radiating influences of many styles, including rock and reggae, this CD boasts mass appeal. On some of the tracks, Clint creatively mixes his own vocals and riffs on top of popular pop/rock songs. I Knew U Were the 1 is a groovy duet, showing heavy Caribbean influences. The hypnotic and racy Run Baby Run incorporates great electronica effects and flaunts a very catchy chorus. Clint has an undeniable gift for creating memorable rhymes and melodies, exploring topics of God, love, sex appeal, and anger. Moreover, Clints edgy yet smooth vocal tone adds personality and life to these tunes! Terrific production is just one more reason for fans of pop figures like George Michael and Prince to buy Terrific Distraction today!
