Our band was so innovative" says Hagins "For years , i tried and tried to convince all the major labels to sign us and i begged them that 'grunge' rock was gonna be the next big thing - this is very common knowledge in the South Bay,....everybody THOUGHT that I was crazy and insane,..they said that 'alternative music' was never gonna make it ,..and that it was subject only to the 'bargain bins' at record stores,..well, I fought like hell,..not just for me,..but for ALL EMO BANDS,....WE WANTED TO DESTROY heavy metal and bands like Skid Row and Def Leppard,..it was a tough tall order,....when i suddenly saw Nirvana going off huge,..i was a little stunned,...I mean i was a little happy to see that my ideas could work in the big time of the main stream,...but then I began to get bitter and angry and i wondered how it was,...how was it possible that G.e. of all bands ,..still couldn't get signed,...even with our song BRANDY in 1992,..it really bummed me,..out,..it made me give up and quit ,..by late 92' ,..I was over,..G.E. WAS OVER !! Our bassist Ted had quit and went and joined a punk rock band called the One handed Readers in Redondo,.....me and Palle Carlson tried to keep G.e. alive ,..but then he went back to Denmark,..man,..it was sad,..things were falling apart fast,....then, I saw all those bands like Weezer and Green day in '94,..THATS when i knew it was really over for me,..and i was only 29 ,..back then,..but in those days,..THAT was considered old !! In the South Bay,.... Hagins began the live part of his musical career jamming with bands like Palos Verdes demo project "The Cloud Chamber" before moving on to jam with fellow Redondo guitar rocker Steve "Stevo" Stepanian - where Hagins played drums before jamming with a multitude myriad of different South Bay punk bands, among them B.P.S. (beats per second) and "Outlash Control" before settling in as permenant fill in drummer for the Jim Mellon Quartet and the CVB (Christine Valley Band) with Joe Groovey dude and John Hall from Youngstown Ohio and many drunken nights at the Hermosa Saloon where huge loud blues gigs were often "Led" by Hagins - from the drum kit. "Its funny,..in the South Bay, I had just like this HUGE reputation as a drummer - but NOW most of the world knows me as a guitarist (Laughs)" says Hagins in November 2009. I can't touch THOSE !! ANY BAND after Sept. 24, 1991,..I don't listen to,..maybe Weezer,..and thats all,..the rest of it sucks,...I respect Nirvana for all their luck and timing n all ...and skill - one cannot deny them,...but i don't respect Green Day at all - NOT ONE BIT,...I WOULD SPIT IN THAT GUY'S fucking little face .....

'Thats The Clash eller som jeg donno, .. m ske Cheaptrick! " Men ja, denne store guitar k re er endnu et Ge original, s ingen b nd eller ingen er kommet frem til at modbevise det. "Det har helt sikkert et sammenbrud i det, som benbart ligner Arthur Lee's" Alone igen eller siger Hagins "Its kinda spanske flamenco-lignende - IKKE" (Griner) Med den sp de start af 'Going Legit drivhuseffekten satte sig for at g re deres s dvanlige kr vende 'Complicated' musik med en masse tromme aktivitet og over-eftersynkroniseret guitarer og vokal - alle blandet med atmosf re og psykedelia, men direkte fra en garage - kun denne gang, alle de id er, syntes at fungere p et super h jt ny afvandingsomr deniveau -- over andre bands. "Vi har altid nsket at g re vores musik meget interessant, .. da jeg spillede Ted begyndelsen af ideen til" Hey Negrita "han lignede -" h, .. thats a ripp off af "Like A Hurricane" af Neil unge eller noget off "Alle ved, det er intetsteds" eller "After the Gold Rush ",...." Selvf lgelig ville jeg ogs gerne at blande i min demente politik", siger Hagins. Star virkelig har en "South Bay" f ler, at det (Torrance og Redondo Beach), og det indf rer en "punk" edgy vibe til Ge , der ogs har humor, der manglede, mangler i dag i Keegan ra Ge "Ben is Dead" ville v re en anden interessant sang fra Going Legit hvor Hagins blander nogle Rory Gallagher type guitar med et rip off p Ted Nugent og Ambuoy Dukes "Rejsen til centrum for dit sind", som virkelig fungerer. "Vi vil revidere en masse brugt ideer, men vi ville spinde dem, hvor du kunne knap nok sige", siger Hagins .... Det var denne periode, hvor G.e. havde tilsluttet med to nye trommeslagere i f rste Martin Silva i San Pedro - og senere, Punker Greg Tarpley - og Ge udviklet et nyt ganske besynderligt og revolutionerende "tre mands band" pr sentation, hvor Clark Hagins var p forskud, hamrer p powerakkorder, udsender feedback, og hollering hans vokal ind i mikrofonen med en pludselig p tr ngende nyt reverbed vrede. Den m de, at den kl dte bandet var flannels og t-shirts og jeans, stort set at holde den samme Ge traditioner fra Phil Keegan dag intakt. G.e. Som s dvanlig tiltrak stor Label opm rksomhed, med "Going Legit", som de havde med Keegan f r, ... og sangen "Dead End Street" med det "kvindelige gerne klingende vokal 'greb re af flere A hver Record Label i Hollywood os over op og ned", siger Hagins "Men vi kunne kun se hj lpel st til, mens vi aldrig blev underskrevet, og vi s andre bands med langt f rre talenter og store ideer som vi havde - f underskrevet og g fra os, ... vi blev f dt til at v re rock superstars, .. at v re underholdere, .. " siger Hagins "Det smerter mig at tro, at jeg er en swimmingpool renere eller en pl neklipper, .. jeg f ler mig som sin et tab for mig, .. men det et st rre tab for kunst og musik smag verden .. verdens glemte ud p os, .. vores band was great, .. vi var ikke bare endnu en typisk k re af m llen gruppe, .. vi var ganske s rlige og ekstraordin re unikke ja .. vi havde en masse albums at byde p , i stedet .. bands som Creed og Green Day og alt det andet lort fik undertegnede. lort det er ikke engang t t p s godt som os - ikke engang i vores liga .... thats a bummer mand, .. Thats en pokkers skam,. ... i mange r, hvor-jeg nogensinde ville g , .. jeg ville pr ve at fort lle folk, historien om Ge, og hvordan vi var der f rst og folk ville bare grine og sige "Bevis det", .. Kun f mennesker tilbage i South Bay vidste hele sandheden om GE og alle mine h rde arbejde, alle de viser, at jeg kastede og organiseret ,.... i 92 ', da jeg forlod virksomheden - jeg var mentalt tr t og advare ud f lelsesm ssigt. . Jeg har lige klinget af og meget af den rock musikscene glemte mig, ... godt i dag, n r de ser alle de tidlige billeder af Ted og Greg Tarpley if rt flannels n alle, .. og os spille denne koncert p Hermosa Saloon (og andre koncerter ogs med alle de h je str m og energi ),... nu, har de ikke le ad alt, .. nu er de bare se p mig bed vet chokeret tavshed, som om at sige OMG, .. og de " re som "Dude, .. jeg er ked af, .. du fik skruet, ... You Got Fucked OVER ,.... af industrien" Hagins forts tter; "Hvad er cool, er jeg egentlig er en gammel fyr nu, ... Jeg er 44 r og folk sj ldent fors ger at diss mig l ngere, ... De ryster p h nden, og de er som "Vi har set det nu, .. dude, du var, .. nej, .. du "Er 'den gte vare, bro' ... du var det lort, .. lige pr cist, som du altid sagt ,.... "Jeg vil give noget nu, .. bare for at spille musik og endda v re en bning handling, ... selv trully, GE er ingen bning handle, ... Vi var der s lang tid siden med alle de store sange og id er, som vi havde ... vi havde Big Huge ideer, .. for hit-singler, .. men ogs for l nge koncept albums ligesom der Tommy og Quadrophenia ... Jeg f ler, at jeg vil aldrig f en chance for at registrere dem nu. .. og thats a damn skam, ... Fra 1992 til omkring 2003, jeg var meget lidt aktivitet, at de p g ldende musik, .. da jeg opdagede, hvordan man kan g re min sang videoer, .. det virkelig bragte at GE magi BACK!, ... Og det gjorde ikke tage for lang tid, i 2005, var vi tilbage p toppen, ... vi var konger igen! "

Mercer formed Flake in 1992 with drummer Jesse Sandoval, keyboardist Marty Crandall, and bassist Neal Langford; they eventually changed their name to Flake Music, releasing several singles, a well-received album, When You Land Here, It's Time to Return, and touring with friends like Modest Mouse and Califone.
