NAŠE MALO MISTO IX glava Borbena ponoćka This is, most likely, the best piece that Croatian TV has ever produced. The series still has the cult rating among the audiences of all generations and has hardly ever been approached in quality by any of the subsequent attempts in Croatian cinematography or TV production. What makes it so excellent? Its wit, its humor, its realism, its charm, which is overwhelming, its superb (!) acting, so absent from those modern, stretched, fake, ardouous attempts to force the scenes and messages. In those old days, I guess, the director was treating the audience as intelligent and able to think and discern for tmeselves, and so much was left for their own interpretation and interpolation. That gave this series so much extra charm. Nowdays, audience is treated as idiotic, and in need of most banal explicit explanations. They are looked differetnly and one can not detach himself from the suspicion that some quite different motivations are driving today's production. This is an awfully nostalgic thing to watch. To those who would be able to understand and enjoy the sout Croatian dialect and its original peculiarities, will undoubtedly need a lot of tear-wiping tissues. Zagrebaka lutkarica i voditeljica Malog kazalita lutaka 'Let' iz Zagreba, Vanda Vili, ve dvanaesto ljeto odrava lutkarske veeri na Trgu Pape Ivana Pavla II (kor) u Starom Gradu na Hvaru. Mali teatar, na ijem programu su bajke, basne i prie poznatih djejih pisaca Sunane krinjari, brae Grimm, Branka opia, H. C. Andersena, Grigora Viteza, i Ele Peroci, svoj program realizira od 07. do 29. srpnja, po principu 'jedan glumac, jedna predstava'.

Croatian culture is as old as the stone on which Dalmatia, the beautiful coastal region of Croatia, lies. The wonderful scenes with the sun, the coast and the islands are best expressed through the klapa singing (klapa is a group of male or female singers who sing in a special way, typical for Dalmatia) which is one of the facets of the old Croatian culture. To lose klapa singing it would mean to destroy all the links to and memories of the past and the people who cherished the traditional singing with love and passed it to every new generation.
