The Lakers biggest advantages in this series are on their bench. The Lakers second unit produces offensively for LA. Also on their bench is Phil Jackson the greatest coach ever in the NBA who hasn t lost a step. Probably did one of his best coaching jobs developing players around Kobe. I believe this to be the biggest coaching mismatch in the history of any finals, NBA, NFL, NHL or even Major League Baseball. Rivers coached against Flip Saunders, Mike Brown and Mike Woodson in this postseason. Not even close to being the greatest minds in the game. 0 Titles among them and Rivers didn t win any playoff series in his coaching career until this season. Phil Jackson s in game adjustments, game-to-game adjustments and his better ability to work the officials give the Lakers about an extra 5 points each game against Doc Rivers and the Celtics. Phil Jackson will find the formula to beat Boston. Younger and running teams gave the Celtics trouble. Atlanta took them to 7 games. New Orleans pounded the Celtics at home. The Celtics lost 3 games in a row to start a West Coast trip against Denver, Golden St and an older but running Phoenix Suns team. Young Deron Williams behind 32 points led the Utah Jazz to an 18 point pounding of the Boston Celtics in Boston. Doc Rivers doesn t want to get in a running game against LA but if San Antonio couldn t ground LA in a grind it s unlikely Boston would be able to. LA pushes the ball and gets in transition against Boston and the Celtics will show their age. And if there is a close game late how can you bet against Kobe Bryant?? Take LA at 190 to win the NBA Championship.

The LA Lakers went 12-3 in the playoffs against what many say was the toughest Western Conference ever. Kobe Bryant is having an outstanding post season averaging nearly 32 points a game on just under 51% shooting. You can t double or triple team Kobe much because Lamar Odom is shooting 48% and Pau Gasol at 52% from the field in the playoffs. The Celtics haven t seen an offense this potent this post season. Then you add Derek Fisher s 47% shooting and Vlade Radmonovic at 46.4% and you have a starting 5 that will be very difficult to stop. The Lakers young, athletic and offensively talented bench will frustrate the Celtics. Boston struggled against young and running teams out West and Phil Jackson knows it. Allen Iverson, Deron Williams and Chris Paul gave Boston problems this season. Celtic backers will argue how Boston is a more physical squad. Look it doesn t get any more physical than Jerry Sloan s Utah Jazz team and you saw what the Lakers did to Utah in a 7 game series against one of the NBA s best defensive minds. You are getting points in game 1 with LA and you better take it. Take LA Lakers +2 .

When Phil Jackson looks at the tape on how to beat Boston he will find that the Celtics struggled against running teams. LA must go into Boston for game 1 and with plenty of rest they should be able to come with energy. I know the Celtics are a physical team but so was Utah. When LA hits their baskets it will force the Celtics to open up their offense. No half court grind here as Phil Jackson can go to his bench to replenish his offense and bring in young legs to run at Boston. And what will transpire in game 1 will be an over. Play over 193 in game 1.

Toronto starter Dustin McGowan has pitched well for the Blue Jays giving up just 8 earned runs over his last 4 starts in 24 1/3rd innings of work. The Blue Jay s righty has been a victim of very poor run support as his offense is averaging just 2.18 runs in his starts. McGowan in 3-day time starts is 3-0 with an ERA of 2.37 in 19 innings of work. Wang has been a good home daytime pitcher over his Yankee career and this year has been no different. Wang in 3-day time starts is 2-0 with an ERA of 2.33 in 19 1/3rd innings of work. Both starters should go very deep in this afternoon ballgame at Yankee Stadium. Play this one under 9 runs.
