Magic Practices of the Faery Tradition with Orion Foxwood (The Explore Your Spirit with Kala Show)

from The Explore Your Spirit with Kala Show on January 29, 2009
Duration: 2727
Faery Seership the truths we seek can only be found within ourselves, within nature, and within our relationships to nature. At the center of the Faery Tradition lies the Tree of Enchantment: the symbol for these relationships and for the threefold life of humanity. At each level of the tree, there are attending spirit forces that vary from beings of light to beings of shadow, from the ancestors of humanity to the architects of form and nature, from the destiny of our planet to the creation forces of the universe. The tree’s roots grow through the lower world, where all life originates and the dead travel, its trunk and lower branches reach out across the middle world, where elemental forces and the four directions guide us, and its highest branches reach the into the upper world and the Star realm. Kala speaks with Orion Foxwood, who shares folk tradition and extensive academic research into the Old Religion of Faery Seership. Based on Appalachian traditions, Wiccan studies, Celtic oral traditions, and the Craft from Western and Northern Europe, The Tree of Enchantment (Weiser Books, October 2008) offers the student of Faery Tradition both introductory and advanced visionary practices and authentic tools to learn to navigate the three realms of humanity. With diligence and an open heart, the reader will learn to cross The River of Blood, pass through The Gate of Awakening, and over The River of Stars. More About Orion Foxwood: Orion Foxwood was born with the second sight in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, an area rife with the folk practices of the southern and Appalachian tradition. He lectures in across the United States and the U.K. More info at: www.foxwood-temple.net/.

Wake Up Now: A Journey Through the Stages of Spiritual Awakening with Stephan Bodian (The Explore Your Spirit with Kala Show)

Wake Up Now: A Journey Through the Stages of Spiritual Awakening with Stephan Bodian (The Explore Your Spirit with Kala Show)

from The Explore Your Spirit with Kala Show on January 27, 2009
Duration: 2047
With the growing popularity of satsang in the West, more and more people are waking up to the radiant emptiness of their essential spiritual nature. But few realize that awakening is often just the beginning of a prolonged and challenging journey of spiritual unfolding that may be fraught with pitfalls as well as promise. Kala speaks with Stephan Bodian, spiritual teacher and author of the new book, Wake Up Now: A Guide to the Journey of Spiritual Awakening. Stephan invites you to glimpse your true nature directly, right now, without arduous practice. His work leads you through the stages that generally follow: the "wake" of awakening, when the mind tends to obscure or co-opt your realization; the embodiment process, in which you learn to actualize your awakening in every area and dimension of your life; and the ongoing challenge of freeing the dark or frozen places in the psyche that awakening by itself may not reach.

More About Stephan Bodian: Stephan has practiced and taught nondual approaches to truth for more than 35 years. After a series of deepening realizations, he received Dharma transmission (authorization to teach) from his Zen teacher, Adyashanti. His life is now devoted to igniting and fostering the flame of truth in others through his counseling, mentoring, teaching, and writing. In addition to regular satsangs and intensives, Stephan offers silent retreats and an eight-month School for Awakening that begins again in June 2008. A licensed psychotherapist as well as a spiritual teacher, he has evolved a vibrant, intimate approach to counseling and mentoring that blends psychological insight and spiritual realization. His new book, Wake Up Now: A Guide to the Journey of Spiritual Awakening, was published this year by McGraw-Hill. Stephan began practicing Zen in 1970 after studying Asian language and culture at Columbia and Stanford. Ordained a Zen priest in 1974, he trained with several Zen masters, including Shunryu Suzuki Roshi (author of Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind) and Taizan Maezumi Roshi, and directed the training program at the Zen Center of Los Angeles. He also practiced Dzogchen-Mahamudra with several Tibetan teachers and spent 10 years studying Advaita Vedanta with Jean Klein. Stephan is the former editor-in-chief of the magazine Yoga Journal and a contributing editor of Tricycle: The Buddhist Review, and he has written extensively on spiritual themes. His articles have appeared in numerous national magazines, including Fitness, Alternative Medicine, Cooking Light, Tricycle, and, of course, Yoga Journal. More info at: www.stephanbodian.org
