Designer Con was an awesome event, and if you came out you know what I am talking about, and if you were some of the unfortunate, and were not able to make it, hopefully this video hits that void for you! We had a great time with all of the vendors as well as all of the fans, who came from all over, and thanks to our site sponsors like Wizard Sleeve Toys, Dragatomi, Kuso Vinyl, Tenacious Toys, Devil's Holiday, Gunnzo, Strangekiss, Happy Panda Toys, Mimoco and all the others who have given to make the SpankyStokes.com booth the place to be! People started line up early in the morning, so they could grab one of the limited, and very coveted, goodie bags as well be some of the first into the hall to get the inogral crack at many exclusives. There was also the custom Yoka show that DKE put on that shocased over 200 custom Yoka bears... pretty ovewhelming, but amazing to see so many rad customs in once space! Everyone was in such a great mood and the turn out was, at least in my opinion, AMAZING. Fast forward to another fantasic after party at the Switcheroo workshop thanks to Amanda and Michelle, who once again opened their doors into their personal art studio with great eats and some cool beverages, good times! A huge thanks toall my friends and artists that helped make this possible Nebulon5, DrilOne, Leecifer, Brian (Beat Up Boxer), Marine(MyTummyToys), Mike(Wizard Sleeve Toys) and Nemo for getting all the customs and work together to make my booth what it was, and to Xopher, Uncle Dave, Myatt, Jryu and E-money for all the set-up and breakdown help, I could not have done it without you! And to the crew (you know who you are), we sure have a good time together... looking forward to our next meet up at "The Beanery".

Vannen Watches - Dirty Donny Halloween Exclusive

Vannen Watches - Dirty Donny Halloween Exclusive

A HUGE thanks goes out to David from Vannen Watches who was kind enough to send out one of their new Halloween exclusive from Vannen and designed by Dirty Donny which is a super limited edition of only 150 pieces worldwide! The best part about this release, and because the art created for this watch was so dope, Vannen decided to throw in a little treat and make another super-limited variant known as the "Toxic Chase" color way, which is a yellow version of the one in the review. The Toxic Chase is so extremely limited that only 50 exist in the entire world. So that means these were "blind-bagged" so once purchased you had no clue what you were getting, and these were in a really cool orange Trick-or-Treat bag filled with Halloween goodies. These watches are really cool, and if you are a fan of any of the artists on the Vannen site, or heck if you are a fan of art in general these are a must!

Dunny Series 2009 Release Party @ Gunnzo

Last night at Gunnzo, I was on hand to cover the latest release of the new Dunny series from Kidrobot! This series titled "Dunny Series 2009" had some really great designs by a ton of great artists, and the turnout for this release was more than double than the last release. I was only there for about 3omin and they had already sold over 10 cases, and by the time the night was over 17 full cases were gone! Chika, the owener of Gunnzo was so kind and had beverages and had arranged to have Ben & Jerry's on hand thanks to Ephraim of the Seaport Village location! He also brought out some of his collection to show off as well! The event was great, and a ton of people brought out their dupes as well as other misc items to trade, and there was a TON of trading going on! Everyone was in good spirits and jose2187 from the KR boards was there spreading out some AMAZING toy karma when he gave away an 8" Kozik pink hate Dunny to one lucky random collector, rock on dude, super nice! If you get a chance check out the Gunnzo online store...they have a grip of rare items that have been long sold out everywhere...even hard to find prints!

This weekend is the BIG weekend for the papertoy community! On Saturday May 2, 2009 there will be the official release party of Urban Paper, a great new book that showcases some awesome paper art from the biggies in the industry! Brian Castleforte aka Nicebunny, Christopher Bonnette and Matt Hawkins will be on hand to sign books, and there will also be a papertoy art show featuring one of a kind works from many of the designers featured in the book. This event is kicking off at 7:00pm on Saturday May 2nd at Mobius in LA, and I will be on hand to cover the event, so if you do make it out, be sure to get my attention and say hello. This should be a really fun event, and all of the artist attending are super cool, so stop by, and support the awesomness that is papercraft
