On Friday May 9th 2008, I was given access to cover the rally for Democratic Presidential front runner Senator Barack Obama held here in Eugene, Oregon at the University of Oregon.I was able to work as a solo video journalist and obtained press credentials through the citizen journalist organization The Uptake and the video was picked up by the most widely read progressive political website - The Huffington Post.The end result isn't perfect by any means, but it does show that working in the pared down solo video journalist paradigm allows for greater mobility to cover a news event like this more effectively as compared to the mainstream news media.
