It literally means, "Thanks for the meal!" Yes, even though you paid, it's polite and customary to also thank them. And, why not? What they place in front of you is not only delicious and good for you...it's a work of visual art! This video was made from stills taken of my food in Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, Arima and Hiroshima, Japan between April 19-May 2, 2008.
