Nederland, 1979. Frankie E. (17) woont in een arbeiderswijk, temidden van havenbedrijven. Hij is een gevoelige en vrij wilde jongen. Hij lijdt onder de zwaarmoedigheid van zijn joodse vader Simon die een concentratiekamp tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog overleefde en daardoor getraumatiseerd is. De spanning tussen Frankie en zijn vader is groot. Zijn moeder Anna weet het gezin bijeen te houden, geholpen door haar broer Henk, een taxichauffeur, totdat blijkt dat zij ernstig ziek is en wordt opgenomen in het ziekenhuis. In this week's episode, it's Norman Mailer week in New York, Harvey reads Harry Potter and Taste-a-Vision is explained. The Reeler takes it to the red carpet to ask the cast of "The Ten" about their cardinal sins and Time Out New York's film critic Josh Rothkopf hangs in the lobby discussing "This is England" and manages to praise Lindsay Lohan's acting chops at the very moment she was trying to run down her ex-assistant's mother in Santa Monica. Pure kismet. Enjoy.

This was an epic show for me. The first time I have ever seen Bad Manners. I had been waiting 25 years! I drove down to see the Sunday SoCal show in Corona. Dan told me the Fresno and Ventures shows suffered from a serious lack of fans, maybe 50 for each. At this one there were close to 200 people and while it wasn't sold out, it was nicely crowded. Monkey sounded great and was well received with lots of dancing. Bad Manners kicked ass. They played all the songs I wanted to hear, and a couple of cool covers I didn't expect. Buster sounded great, jumped around like a man possessed, and stuck his tongue out just enough! The whole band seemed to be having a great time and so did the crowd. If you are going to see one of the upcoming Monkey/Bad Manners shows, then you are in for a real treat. My only regret is that my "good" knee is messed up and I had to dance on one leg. Highlights included seeing the Monkey horn section doing the can-can, dancing with Donelle to "My Girl Lollipop", and getting Buster to sign my album cover from ~1982.
