MAGNOLIA STUDENT KILLED IN FM 2978 CRASH

A 16 year old Magnolia High School student was killed approximately 4:30pm today. The accident happened at FM 2978 near Hardin Store Rd. According to DPS Trooper Box the young man was traveling northbound on FM2978 in a Honda Pilot along with three other teens between 15 and 16 years old. For an unknown reason he attempted to pass in a NO Passing Zone just out of a curve and a hill. The Honda struck a Volvo SUV headed southbound headon. The teen was killed instantly, another was flown by PHI Air Medical 9to Herman Hospital in Houston. The other two were taken to Herman Woodlands. The female driver of the Volvo and her 13 year old daughter had just finished a shopping trip and were heading for pizza when they were struck.

DRUNK DRIVER KILLS ONE ON WRONG SIDE OF IH45

Sept. 19, 2009 SOUTH MONTGOMERY COUNTY - One person is dead following a collision on I-45 N at Rayford, caused by a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer traveling southbound in the northbound lanes. Just before midnight on Friday, Conroe Police dispatched an attempt to locate on the Blazer, which callers reported going the wrong direction on the main lanes of the interstate. Calls were also received and dispatched by the Montgomery County Sheriff s Office. At approximately 12:08, the Blazer struck a northbound Toyota Avalon, with two occupants, almost head-on, killing the female passenger, Jan Bennett, instantly. The driver, Robert Bennett, who was the husband of the deceased, was transported to an area hospitao by ground ambulance with non-life threatening injuries including a broken arm. The driver of the Blazer, 22-year-old Bulmaro Santos reportedly tried to flee on foot after the crash, but bystanders detained him. He was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries where his blood was drawn to test his blood alcohol level. He was then released to law enforcement. The Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission and the Montgomery County District Attorney s Office responded to the scene. Santos was arrested and charged with intoxicated assault and a intoxication manslaughter, with a total bond of $150,000.
