Apple Scruffs and The Ballad Of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll) by George Harrison

Apple Scruffs and The Ballad Of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll) by George Harrison

from Favorites of Africanbusker on June 20, 2009

Yes an All Things Must Pass, George Harrison double shot! Apple Scruffs is a song written by George Harrison and released on his 1970 solo album All Things Must Pass. The song is about a group called Apple Scruffs which was a die hard core Beatles fan group in the late 60's. The group (Apple Scruffs) used to wait around the Apple Building gates to catch a glimpse of their heroes. The Beatles themselves actually associated with two of the group members (Lizzie Bravo and Gayleen Pease) and invited them to record Across The Universe with them. Although one with their recorded voices was not released at the time but was used on the World Wild Life Fund recording which can be heard on The Past Masters 2 album. The Beatles song She Came In Through The Bathroom Window was also about the Apple Scruffs when they climbed into Paul's house wearing a pair of trousers and armed with silver spoons and stole a photograph of Paul's father Jim McCartney but later gave it back at McCartney's request. The Ballad Of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll) is a song written by George Harrison and was released on his solo 1970 album All Things Must Pass. And is based upon the Solicitor Frank Crisp who was also a Microscopist. Frank Crisp also bought Friar Park which was later George's home some 70 years later.
