www.scmp.com/audio Racing fans can look forward to several upcoming races with an international flavour: Today's meeting at Sha Tin will feature the Cathay Pacific International Cup Trial and Racing editor Alan Aitken has favourited Collection. The winner of next week's International Mile Trial usually serves as a guide to the following month's Hong Kong Cup, but Alan doesn't seem to think so. Collection has high hopes to become Hong Kong's leading light for that race. Jockey Challenge: Brett Prebble has a commanding lead in favourites of HK$1.55, way past Douglas Whyte at HK$6.50. For Best Bet, Alan has his eye on Ecosta Don. Watch out for him at Race 5, no. 9.

http://www.scmp.com/video From November 26 to December 9, this year's DETOUR event will once again bring together a dynamic array of art, design and creativity. This also coincides with Donald Tsang's plans to revitalise the Central District into a more sustainable and creative hub. The 90-year-old Former Police Married Quarters, once the home of our chief executive, will be the main anchor venue for Detour as it will be transformed into a performing arts venue and gallery. At a press event for Detour, a graffiti artist painted his impression of the Quarters while we chat with Alex Lo, chairman of the HK Ambassadors of Design and iconic designer Douglas Young. The founder of G.O.D. will be creating an installation mysteriously titled 'Room 414' at the venue.

Cutesey Lenka wins over Asia fans

Cutesey Lenka wins over Asia fans

from recent posts tagged celebrity - blip.tv (beta) on August 28, 2009
Duration: 193
http://www.scmp.com/video/ Audiences in North America and Europe may not know what to make of her uplifting and cutesy piano-dominated pop, but Australian singer Lenka Kripac, known professionally by her first name, and her style have a special resonance with Asian fans. "Festival audiences are great because of their excitement and energy but there's a frenzy to Asian audiences which is great to play off. If they are high energy, we are, and the whole thing escalates to an amazing level," Lenka said when she visited Hong Kong last month. Lenka's work has a child's innocence and purity of imagination as its central themes, which play well with Asian crowds, she said, adding: "I'm trying to keep alive this spirit of wonder, naivety and simplicity."
